emerging discourse : 2015
Within ourselves and the world around us is an ever changing landscape of opposing emotions, conflicting ideas about ourselves, others and the world around us, all struggling to be seen, loved and united. Many these ideas we inherited, we were first taught to believe about ourselves and in our struggle to be seen, we engaged through discourse, igniting others and starting a chain of reactions. I’m interested in how this internal dialogue gets projected out into the world and reflected back, the micro and the macro.
This work is an act of curiosity circling these dualities, wondering around opposites looking with open heart for opportunities to build bridges.
I recently was asked by a friend if this work was political or spiritual, to which I replied “Both.” In my journey I’ve come to see one in the same. What we see needing to be healed in the world is in some way the same as what we need to heal in each of ourselves. The way to shift the inherited discourse is to see ourselves in each other, to hold truth that each of us equally carries the complexity of being human and the golden light of life itself.
We are in this together, we are all connected, take a moment to be curious of others, yourself and this planet. Magic lies in love and it is all around us.
